ClassroomScreen in Action: Mastering the Timetable and Stickers

Hi everyone, today I’m excited to walk you through two super helpful features of ClassroomScreen: the Timetable and Stickers. Whether you're an educator looking to organize your day or a fan of using visuals to boost engagement, these tools can make a big difference in your classroom. Let’s dive in!

1. Timetable: Organize Your Day with Ease

The Timetable feature is perfect for structuring your day and making transitions smooth for both you and your students. Here’s how you can set it up:

1. Open the Timetable:
   Start by selecting the Timetable widget. If you don’t see it, click on the menu to add it.

2. Set Up Your Day:
   Click the Settings icon and type in the day of the week, for example, "Thursday." This is a great way to customize for your current schedule or adjust for special events or activities.

3. Add Activities:

   • Select Add Activity, then type in something like Morning Routine.
   • Adjust the duration—say 10 minutes for a quick morning routine—and even add an icon, such as a coat hanger, for a visual cue.
   • Add another activity, such as Library, and choose an icon like books to make it fun and engaging.

4. Personalize Your Timetable:
   Change the color of each activity for quick visual distinction. You can also go back and adjust these settings anytime by clicking on the gear icon.

The Timetable ensures that both you and your students know what’s happening and when. It’s particularly useful during busy times or when schedules change unexpectedly.

2. Stickers: Add Fun and Positivity

Stickers are a fun way to liven up your ClassroomScreen and provide encouragement or feedback. Here’s how to use them effectively:

1. Explore Stickers:
   Scroll through the selection of stickers to find ones that fit the mood or purpose. For example:

   • A cheerful Good Morning sticker for a warm start to the day.
   • A Thumbs Up sticker to acknowledge great work or behavior.

2. Customize Placement:

   • Drag and drop the sticker anywhere on your screen.
   • Resize it or mirror it as needed. Stretch the sticker to make it more visible or fit a specific spot on your screen.

3. Layering Stickers:

   • If you want to move a sticker behind or in front of another element, use the three dots menu to reorder layers. Select Send to Back or use the Control + Down Arrow shortcut.

This simple feature adds a personal, positive touch to your lessons, making the classroom environment more engaging and visually appealing.

Add your own GIFs in Classroomscreen.com

Classroomscreen is an amazing free tool that includes a timer, text tools, drawing tool, name picker, work symbols and more. If interested you can see embedded blog posts that I have created in the past revolving around classroomscreen at the bottom of the post.

The other day I created stop motion animation GIF using Google Slides - see blog post here. Leah, my wife who is a 4th grade teacher, saw it and wanted to know if she could use that GIF in classroomscreen. I knew that you could upload your own images, but never thought about GIFs. So, we gave it a shot and to our excitement - it did!

One thing that I did notice was that the GIF was a bit fast. So, we used Ezgif.com and then selected resize. At the top I then selected speed at the top of the screen.

Once the speed is the way you would like it, make sure to save the file and you are ready to go. Go ahead and upload the downloaded file Classroomscreen.

New features in Classroomscreen.com Stopwatch and Dice

Classroomscreen.com is a very useful tool that turns your browser turns into an interactive board and has the capability to display various helpful tools. Click here for a link to a post I created (May 31, 2017) about classroomscreen as well as a new features post on October 19, 2017.

An update to classroomscreen includes a stopwatch and dice (1, 2, or 3 dice).

Update to Classroomscreen.com - create an exit poll

A fan favorite of many teachers is Classroomscreen.com. Classroomscreen has numerous features including ability to add a text box with directions, QR code, timer, traffic light, etc. A new feature that came out this week is the ability to create an exit poll. For a blog post I created about classroomscreen click here.

In the bottom right of the screen you will see the green and yellow icon for the exit poll. When you select the icon a second screen will come up with a sample poll already created. Simply enter in your poll question and allow the students to select out of the 5 face choices. A simple idea for more anonymity, it to place either a mobile device or notebook in a certain place in your room.

2 new winter-themed GIF backgrounds available in Classroomscreen.com

Classroomscreen is an outstanding website that includes a number of digital widgets where teachers can project onto a screen for the entire class. To see a number of posts I have created regarding Classroomscreen, click here.

The background pictures and GIFs are very pleasing to the eyes. Lately, a number of people have asked if there is a picture or GIF that has a fireplace (or just a fire). Well, now there is!

• Select Background at the bottom of the screen
• Look on the right side of the next screen for GIFs (you will see 7 available)
• The top one is a view of a campfire on a mountain
• The second one is a GIF of a fireplace with stockings

New updates to classroomscreen.com

Classroomscreen.com is a very useful tool that turns your browser turns into an interactive board and has the capability to display various helpful tools. Click here for a link to a post I created before about classroomscreen.

A few new features are:

1. A new clock (analog) as well as a 24 hour clock and the day of the month.
2. A new timer that has an hour glass as well as the ability to loop your timer. Think 4 rotations in a center lasting 10 minutes each.
3. In drawing - you can add a picture file.
4. Sound level - with ability to adjust the sensitivity.
5. New background pictures.
6. New languages available.

Classroomscreen update - duo widget - 1 classroom 2 groups working on different tasks

Classroomscreen has added a new feature "Duo Widget -  which allows the user to have two groups working on different tasks on the same screen.

All you need to do to get the Duo to come up is select the yellow +1 when you select the item you would like to add.

Classroomscreen - New tools available when upload own background image

Classroomscreen.com is an amazing website for teachers. Now, when you upload your own image you will have new tools available to you.

The tools include the drawing tool, ability to change the background color, rotate the image, and enlarge or shrink the image you uploaded.

How to have additional sounds in Classroomscreen & other sites

 If you use Classroomscreen in your classroom to support class activities, you will know that there are built in audio sounds to the timer. While you can not add additional sounds to the timer - you can embed a webpage with additional sounds.

The example I use in the embedded video below is a Teacher Soundboard created by Candace Buchanan. What you can do is select media in Classroomscreen and embed the teacher soundboard's url.

You will then see the site on the screen. You can shrink or enlarge the embedded page as well as navigate between the 3 pages.

Classroomscreen - use a GIF as a background!!

Classroomscreen.com has a nice new update - the ability to use GIFs as a background!

When you access the backgrounds, look to the right for the GIFs (there are a total of 7).

Classroomscreen has continued to add on to this amazing tool. This update revolves around the drawing tool and the ability to add new backgrounds. How to use sound level in Classroomscreen.com

If you would like to set a sound level in your classroom - try using Classroomscreen's sound level.

A few bits of advice:

• Use Chrome or Firefox
• Allow the microphone access (a pop-up window will come up)
• Adjust the scroll bar according to your specifications
• Adjust the sensitivity 
• Decide to turn on the bell (right side)
• If do not use the bell the bar will turn from green to red

Updates to Classroomscreen - upload own background - webcam background - plain background - line paper at drawing tool

Classroomscreen.com  has added a number of new features to make this great tool even better. In this update you will see:
- webcam background
- plain color background
- 5 new photo's (delete cookies if they don't show up)
- line paper at drawing tool
- improvement sensibility of the voice level

Flipgrid how to have your class access your grid on shared devices (hint - use Classroomscreen as well)

If you would like to have your Grid easily available for your students on shared devices try the following.

• Create your grid and make sure to select Student ID as the Grid Community Type
• Name your Grid
• Create your Flip Code
• When asked to create your student list you can type in just one name
• Student and then 1 for last name
• That is all the names you will need as students can later edit the name when they access the grid
• You can then print the QR code (along with the Flip Code and Student ID) 
• I recommend copying the QR code and Flip Code and Student ID and pasting in Classroomscreen.com
• This allows for students to be able to scan the QR code on a shared device 
• Students can now scan the code, access te Grid, alter their name, and create their video.

Classroomscreen.com is a great tool for teachers to post directions, keep track of time, remind students of tasks to be completed, among many other uses.

A new feature that just came out deals with new sounds added to the timer. There are some great ones - students will love it.

Watch a YouTube video with no commercials directly in Classroomscreen

A great feature built into Classroomscreen is the ability to embed a YouTube video directly onto the screen. This could be useful for relaxed music when students enter the day, or for whatever you need.

To access this feature make sure to select more widgets and then video.

How to use group maker in Classroomscreen.com

 Classroomscreen is an amazing online tool that allows you to "display the instructions for your lesson in a clear and visual way. Choose from over 13 widgets to support your class activities and help students get to work."

A new tool available to you is Group Maker (you can make 3 lists for free). Each list has the ability to have up to 100 names.

When you select Group Maker and choose your list you can then adjust how many groups or how many students in each group. 

Once your groups are created you have the option to move student names from one group to another as well as the ability to create exclusions in which certain students will not be grouped with other ones.
